Home Made Bath Salts

I will be mailing a package soon to my Mom. I got her several books and made her quite a number of  DIY crafts. One was lemon Bath salt.

Supplies used to do bath salts
To make these you need:
  1. lemon juice
  2. olive oil
  3. sea salt
  4. Container
For giving as a gift I used :
  1.  round metal altoid container,
  2. cellophane bag
  3. Glue gun -glue
  4. Card, I am recycling for this
Mix 1/4 cup sea salt with enough olive oil to coat the grains. This will keep the salt from dissolving when lemon is added. Add enough lemon to make the quality and consistency you like. Put in a container . I put mine in cellophane and inside tin. I wondered if the lemon would react to metal so I did it this way. I made a tag cut from the card and wrote lemon Bath salt on it. I glued this cutely to the tin.

The end product:

Lemon bath salt in tin for gift.

Chickens-changed to awesome photography.

Well I planned to do a chicken post and share photos of my chickens today, but for some reason the upload is not cooperating.  I noticed that I missed several chickens for pictures so I will get pictures of them and do this another day. What to do now with no photo's?

I decided to share some of may saved beautiful photo sites I have On SU :

Flowers in photography      This site has 40  glorious flower shots and 1 sea shell ? I do not understand that one (the seashell) but they are awesome -even the shell one. a few pictures have nectar gatherers also in them (butterflies, bees)

Jaw dropping photos of nature. What amazing photography. I could be jealous of these if not self controlled. I do not really like this site, but was so in awe in wonder of these I did save this photo post on SU. Like vacationing from your home on the cheap seeing these.

Now from List Verse- a site I love and get a daily email from since I am a list person to the max. If I really like the daily list -like this one I will save it to SU to keep it.  Amazing Waterfalls. I can feel the spray as I read about these. (Also Again I enjoy this site ,but sometimes I have to ignore the advertisements,  You would  need to hide in a box to get away from it all.)

I hope you enjoy this impromptu nature walk with me. In the days to come I will share about my "birds" I am hoping the glitch with my photos does not last long.

Photo Clock Project

Last week I put this together:

Here's how you do this. You need at least 12 small frames. I got mine at Walmart for clearance 2 for $1. I also used 13 frames putting one you can see just the corner of at the top right on the clock between the12 and 1 spot to add variety. So I used 13. I also put my clock on a picture for the background so I did not have to put it on the wall. You can make a background or put it on the wall. I did not have enough room for it that way.

Put pictures in the frames. I used family photos, but anything you like can work. Just crop to fit if needed. Decide what hour you want each picture. If you use a background you can lay it flat to do this. You will need to purchase a clock maker piece. Again I got at Walmart. Elsewhere may be better. Mine was pricey and cheaply made w/out even directions. My son got this working for me. I was lost w/out the directions. My Walmart had only one kind also.

The stabilizer I built for the clock was a piece I had I glued on the picture with  Locite stick and seal no mess glue. I used a thermometer case we no longer had and filled it with glued beads. On this I used Elmer's cheap glue. I taped the clock piece also on the back top with strong gorilla tape since if you glued the timepiece you could not get it off for the  change of the battery when it runs down.. Now glue the pictures on in the places you chose to fit the timepiece and hang. Viola!!!!

Upcycle Metal Food Cans.

There are a lot of tin can reuse projects here: www.bystephanielynn.com/2011/09/50-crafts-and-projects-using-recycled.html. Some of these I have pinned on Pinterest and have cans and just need the time:

May tweak this some and use more than one color. I also am lacking the ladybug strips.

The original for this is Etsy, but pretty simple to copy I would think. If you would rather buy go to the link on here and find this picture. There is a link to this on Etsy.

I am also going to try these 2:

tile  cans (link to Instructables on post.)

Link to  Plum Creek Collectables on there also. Candle holders so cute.

There are a lot of other ideas on here with links so start up cycling today. If I make these may post pictures in the future.

Antigue Mall finds

Yesterday, I had 4 hours to kill since my daughter had pre college testing an hour away from our home. I needed to find something to do in the town and have not had a chance to do more than really go to Walmart and grocery shop. What to do?

This town has a really neat old town square. I needed to drive through it and thought of going to Walmart to pick up a few things and visiting the library there, since it is an amazing library. (The one I am able to use close by are really limited and small.)

My Antique mall finds: vintage earrings, awesome photo in old frame from 20's, spark plug man figurine, old clay mug, 2 Avon demi cups to use as candle pots.
Well, what did I eye spy on the way through the center among the configuration of old and new buildings, but an antique shop with one parking space open right in front.Needless to say it was extremely hard to keep my purchases down to around $25.

I have never been in this shop and it was a wonderful mall with about 50 booths. Some shops had great bargains-so hard to decide. I purchased stuff for gifts. I even found some cheap books and movies for gifts and my kids. (not in picture)

The books and movies were about $10. Everything else I got came to about $15.

Anyone else totally into antiques and or vintage? Just look at Pinterest site and see I am http://pinterest.com/luvtapin/antique/
